    Windows Explorer will not open
    I am running windows xp.

Recently I have not been able to open windows explorer & control panel. When I try, all icons disappear from the desktop for a few seconds and then slowly come back. Nothing else happens. It is not a shortcut problem.

I have run virus software & registry fix programs but no luck.

    Please help.

You can open windows task manager by pressing Alt+Ctrl+Del at the same time the go on the processes tab and look and see if when you try open the tab if it registers on task manager if no the computer is having trouble finding the program.Otherwise don't worry its better to use Firefox than explorer

It's Windows Explorer that will not open, not Internet Explorer so Firefox will not help.

Try a system restore, to get there go to start, accessories, system tools and system restore.
