I am installing chair rail up a stair way at 34" from the top of each step to the bottom of the chair rall when I get to the top of the stairs and transition to the up stairs hallway, I am having difficulty finding the angle of the chair rall to match when it goes to the hall, can this be done or will I have to use some kind of block the finish off to from the stair way and from the hall way.

Readme_ showme - IF you have swanson square and a level you can get the angle you will have to cut, Take a 2 ft level and mark a level horz. Line for your hallwayand a angle line up to the horz. Line , now take the swanson square and set as it showes on the instructions and read thd degrees of the angle .then if you have a miter saw cut your angle on the 2 pieces of trim. Remember the two pieces will be cut oppsite , I would if I was you take @ pieces of the trim and check cut them ( IM TALKING ABOUT Using SCRAPE PIECES, AFter you cut them hold them in place and check out the angle and see if any adjustments need to be made, I hope I have helped you with your question if I have rate my answer below. Draw lines at 34' above stair nosing and horizontinal . Use an angle finder to find the angle of change. Divide the angle by 2, this will be the angle of the miter cut for each piece of molding.
