How is a diminished whole-tone scale used for color in an improvisation?
Does anyone know about the jazz progression 2-5-1 ro 2b5-5b9-1min. Proressions basically how to use them?
I assume when you talk about 2-5-1 and 2b5 in the same sentence, you actually mean 2m7b5. The two chord is always minor.
One way to deal with the 2 m7b5 to 5 7b9 scenario is to play the 1 harmonic minor scale. (in C, the scale would be: C D Eb F G Ab B C). When you get to the 1 chord, play the 1 major scale.
Get the harmonic minor scale under your fingers and I think you'll find it useful for these 2m7b5 situations.
