First you need to know what kind of Freon used by the freezer. If it is an older unit it is probably R-12. Second you have to have a set of what is commonly called bar gauges. Third you have to have the Freon, which requires a license to purchase. Finally it is very expensive because the manufacture in the US is on longer permitted and I believe the importation maybe also. All that is available is recycled R-12.
All this means that you will probably have to call a technician. It has become difficult for the home owner to maintain these appliances himself.
If you have to ask how, you should not be doing it. There will be a valve to add it, you will need pressure guages and the correct material. If it is freon, you can not buy it unless you are licensed to do this and have the proper recycle equipment.
