Have a 2002 Ford Excursion and a week ago I could not get it out of park, no 4 wheel drive etc... I found the 10 amp fuse blown and when replaced, it would blow immediately. Replaced the brake on/off switch and everything came back. Could shift it out of park, 4 wheel drive came back, all was fine and dandy. Today again ( a week later ) I went to leave my house and could not get it out of park once more. Checked the fuse and bingo, blown again. I pulled the switch out and it looked OK. Any suggestions on what else to look at ? Heeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeellllllppppppp ! THanks ALL !

Do you have a trailer hitch? Check for corrosion on your trailer wiring plug. I work in auto repair and see that a lot here in Michigan.

Found the problem. Dis-connected the entire trailer wiring harness and all set now. Thanks tweedg ! And yes the flat 4 female end all corroded. Must have been shorting out there.
