S-trap Transition from brass to PVC
Hello
I have an older home. The previous owners replaced a wall hung sink (in a 40's style art deco bathroom) with a silly short vanity. I'd like to return it to it's former glory with a wall hung sink. The waste line is PVC, and goes through the floor into the basement (the entire cast iron waste line has been replaced with PVC.
What I have now is a 1 1/4 " PVC S-trap with a transition coupling to 1 1/2" PVC above the floor. I am unsure of where I should transition from brass to PVC. Do I run the brass 1 1/4" line entirely through the floor and then cut a segment of PVC out before it enters the main line, and use a coupling that increases to 1/1/2 inch there? Or do I have to maintain the 1 1/2" coupling above the floor with the coupling showing?
Thanks for any help
