    Filing status mistake
    I was wondering if somebody were married for previous 5 years and recently divorced jan 26 what filing status would I use last year filed married separately due acountant said had to but some say otherwise. We did not live together all of 06 or 07 due to separation.can I still file jointly now that we are speaking and agree to file jointly.please help this is costly mistake .

    You CAN file Married Filing Separately, but you can also file a SINGLE if you have been separated for at least the last six months of 2007.

    You also have the option of filing jointly, because you ARE married.
