    Foreign Tax Credit
    Hello,

I came to US In Feb 07 from India. I am getting my Indian salary in US and paying tax on the same in US.

For the month of Feb-07, March-07 and April -07, my employer has deducted the tax on my Indian salary in US as well as in India. Thus there is a double taxes.

Now while filling the return in US, I want to claim the credit for the tax which I paid in India. My employer has given me the W2 form. But in this form there is no reference to the foreign tax I paid in India. Now my question is

    1. Can I claim the credit in US? If yes how?
    2. What document needs to be attached with return?
    3. Do I have to get some document / form from the employer which will prove the double tax?

Thanks in advance for your answers.

    1) Yes, you can, using the pay stubs as your information source and Form 1116.

    2) Just Form 1116. Have the pay stubs available if the IRS asks for income proof.

    3) No.
