Can somebody tell me how to connect a 3 pin plug( UK) to a cable from USA?
I need to know which is live and which is neutral.

In the US cable, the white is neutral, black is hot, and bare or green, ground. I don't know the UK plug. Not sure any UK chaps hang out in this forum. Likely the ones in the computer or plumbing could give such basic information. Sometimes, say a SP3 cord, the wires aren't colored. If one is tinned, it is the neutral.

Assuming you are dealing with the UK voltage and connections, I do not want to assume you are aware that the nominal voltage of Britain is 230 volts, so two of the wires ( the word "core" is used in place of wire or conductor in UK) are hot at 230 volts, and the third is the "earth ground".
