I lost an earring down the shower drain. I live in a condo on a cement slab. Is there any hope of retrieval? I pulled the drain out & tried the highest power wet/dry vac I could find. Any suggestions? Any help would be greatly appreciated as it was a gift & irreplaceable. Thank you for your time.

A plumber familuar with the building will be great help. First, don't run more water down shower drain, maybe sink and toilet too. If septic Tank, it may be at the bottom next to a diamond ring? Who Knows. I wonder how many Rings, earrings, Gold goes through systems and filtering to catch these. Is their some Sewer Sucker sitting on a Pile Of Gold, Rings, jewellery.
We may be in the wrong business. If I was the Sewer Person, I would call it "Spoils of War".

Try droping a small magnet on the end of a string down the drain. Or get a magnetic pick up tool from auto parts store. If you have a strong vacumn cleaner, particularly a shop vac try vacumning it out. The vacumn will pull the water out however.
