    Electric Ceiling Heat Controls
My house has 35 year old ceiling heat with Mears wall mounted thermostats. Looks like the thermostats are mechanical (expanding/contracting coil spring). I know that this system is inefficient but are there more accurate digital controllers available which I could install to allow me to more accurately stabilize the temperature in the house? I am looking for a "quick fix" until I can afford to have another type of heating system installed.

    wildwilly,

First off, put a thermometer by a thermostat. Set the thermostat by the thermometer, not the markings on the tstat. Are you bothered by the room getting to cold before the tstat cycles again and then too hot before it shuts off? If you are asking for tighter regulation, you can get electronic line voltage tstats but they aren't exactly cheap. A new mechanical line voltage thermostat will swing 3 degrees or so. Is that close enough?
