Hey Cd... you don't mean the 30 amp circuit breaker to the entire heater... do you? If you do mean the 30 amp breaker... then disregard the following and let me know.. ok?
I believe you mean that the red RESET button at the upper or lower thermostat is popping off.. you reset... pops again in a day. Here, you will need to shut the power at that 30 amp breaker... then confirm by electrical tester that no power (safety first here), (always test electrical tester on working outlet or similar to confirm that it works BEFORE trusting your life to it ;) ).
Now, disconnect wires from the thermostat with the tripping reset button, take it to the nearest plumbing supply house (or home supply store that deals with state water heater... although any universal thermostat should work) and get it replaced. Your upper or lower thermostat is most likely defective.. Then simply replace, re-wire, and turn on power. See from there. I bet that does it.
If I was wrong, like I said let me know and we will see from there. BUT the thermostats trip once in awhile... usually because simply gone defective.

Hi Mcook65
Yeah, certainly sounds like the thermostat(s). I would recommend changing both the upper and lower thermostats at this point... super cheap and quick to change both out! That should resolve your issue!
