    Employer Filing of 1099-MISC
    Hello,

I'm new to the business of outsourced payroll. We have multiple clients that have 1099-MISC employees. I'm trying to find a list of states that require the employer to file a copy of the 1099-MISC with the state.

Trying to find the info on state websites if taking up a tremendous amount of time and I'm having trouble finding the answers I need.

Or does anyone know which states require me (as the employer) to send a record of 1099-MISC employees.

    TIA!!

    Tia:

You need to research each state, as it varies from state to state. I had to research NY, and could NOT find it on the web.

When I called, they told me that, unless money is being withheld, they did NOT require the submission of Form 1099 to the state, which I thought was unusual.

To be safe, I would just mail the Forms 1099 to the address that the W-2s are mailed to, and then drive on from there.
