The idea of extracting zero point energy is total junk science, along the lines of perpetual motion machines and the like.

Zero Point Energy is real energy, so why are all attempts to tap it "junk science"? There are many many references you can look up. Here is a fairly readable review of the evidence:

A method for extracting Zero Point Energy is patented technology. The US patent office does not award junk science patents to the best of my knowledge.
