On L1 in US, but getting Salary in India. What are the tax implecations?
    Hi,

I stayed in USA for 4 months in 2007 and I was on L1 work permit. I was getting my Salary in India while I was in US, and I was getting only daily allowance of 50 dollars during my stay in US. I do have a SSN.

Can you please tell me if I need to pay tax there as I was on L1 work visa? Am I supposed to pay tax on the $50 allowance that I was getting in the USA?

    Best Regards
    Athul

If you received your salary from your Indian company, you should be exempt from taxes for money earned in the U.S.

If not, you can claim daily living expenses (after factoring in your $50 daily stipend) by filing Form 1040NR with Form 2106.
