How do you waterproof a metal Bilco door?
We have a metal "Bilco" door leading to the basement. On heavy rain days the water leaks in between the metal on metal doors, then runs down the cement stairs to the basement.

What type of silicon, rubber or insulation is best to keep water from blowing in?

    Any suggestions?

    Thanks, Wayne

I would first check if the door was shifted from some kind of settling, i.e.. Ice build-up etc. this could cause the gap to grow more even after a repair.

Barring that, the area leaking could be fixed with a mortar pad or replacement wood where it touches the ground.

If you are in a below freezing area as I am, I suggest packing the leaking area with something like rags till spring, when you can do a correct repair with mortar and silicone.
