Wanting to move the washer and dryer to the basement to free up space on the main floor. The main line to the septic system is aprox 56" off the basement floor. We also have a sump pump that handles the bathroom in the basement. We were hoping to be able to drain the washer without plumbing into the pump. What would be our best option? Thanks

So you have an ejector pit in the basement but you do not want the washer to go in the pit, right? You can cut yopur drain line and install a wye with a 30"stand pipe and trap. Now you are pushing the lift ability of the washer. Seems like a bit of work since you can drain the pit, it should already be trapped. Can you explain why you want to avoid the pit?

Thought if I could use gravity instead of the pump it may be the better option.

You must first fit gravity up to about 80" before it can drain into your pipe. I would go with the pit.
