    Sperm life line
How long does sperm live after it has been ejaculated into a woman?
My husband and I are trying to conceive and I was once told that it is not necessary to have sex every day during ovulation to get pregnant, because of the sperm that are still "trying to get to where they need to be"... any answers would be appreciated! :)

The average lifespan of sperm, once it is in a healthy environment, is 3 - 5 days. It takes that long to travel up the vaginal canal, through the uterus and up the fallopian tubes where the egg is fertilized.

No, it is not necessary to have intercourse on a daily basis as it takes about 24 hours for your husband's sperm to build back up in numbers.

While we women are born with a certain number of eggs, men rebuild their sperm count constantly. If you have intercourse every night, this tends to lower the sperm count.
