Can a child's name be legally changed without biological fathers consent?
This is very confusing... blood testing proved my husband was the father of his son 16 yrs ago.

His name was not on the birth certificate because she left him before having his child. Thus the child having her last name.

He has paid child support and still does so. She up and moved 14 yrs ago and he could not find them. For years he has been looking for this child under her last name.

Now come to find out she remarried and has changed this child's name to her husbands last name... without his consent.

Is he still legally entitled to pay child support if this other man has taken him on as his own?

Hi, I'm not a professional in this matter but my first thought was "did your husband's biological son change his name himself by deed poll?"

If he did then he doesn't have to ask for his biological father's consent - as far as I am aware. I think one can change one's name from the age of 14 in the UK.

If the son has changed his name (and not been adopted) then yes, as far as I am aware, your husband is still obligated to pay for child support. If the son has been adopted then your husband can relinquish any responsibility for paying for his biological son as responsibility has been taken on by the child's new father.

As I said, I am not a professional in this matter but this is what I understand of the rules as I am in a similar situation - but I could be wrong.
