    Wiring a ceiling light
I am installing (replacing) a new ceiling chandelier. I think that I wired it wrong, because it's not working. I have a black wire, a white wire, and a ground coming out of the ceiling box. I have a lamp cord and ground from the chandelier. What is the correct way to hook the wires together. Thanks for the help. Pam

    KISS
Ribbed of lamp cord should be white (Neutral)
    Non-ribbed should be black (Hot)

For safety, if the chandelier is wired correctly, the with wire will connect to the screw side of the lamps. The chandelier will "work" if the above is reversed, but it's less safe.

    Green to ground.
