    Range of function
    How would you find the following range with calculas

    y=x^2+1, x is a SUBSET of [-2,1]

    It's not just a matter of subbing it in because that would be too easy.

    x is a subset of -2 and 1, which means that's the DOMAIN.

    plug it in your calculator. Graph it.

    now, on the x-axis, look between -1 and 1.

    now, on the y-axis, see how far (up and down) your graph goes. That's your RANGE.

    It would appear that the domain in this case is over the interval [-2,1].

    The range is what you get upon subbing in those values.

    That appears to be all there is to it.
