Its really up to you,a dentist job is to save your teeth so I think most of them will tell you to get it crowned, very expensive even with insuranse. I've had one pulled and probably will get anoyher pulled this year. Other things to consider is your age, is it a visuall tooth when you smile, meaning when its gone will it show in pictures. I also have 4 crowns at about $450.00 a cron with insurance. Just ideas to think about.
I'd ask what is causing the tooth to be loose. If it's because you've lost bone around it you may want to ask about some bone grafting. If grafting is possible it should be done first and given time to see if the tooth tightens up before spending the money on a crown.
If the tooth is loose because of a heavy bite, have the bite adjusted first and again give it some time to see if the tooth tightens up before investing in a crown.
In the end, it IS your decision. Where is your mouth is this tooth? How will it affect you if it's removed? Will you have to replace this tooth once it's removed to protect the teeth remaining? How will you replace it? Bridge? Implant? Partial denture?
These are the things you should ask so you can make a well informed decision for yourself.
