    Stopping breastfeeding
    Hi,

My wife and I have a two year old whom we been trying to stop breastfeeding. Is this the right time, too early or too late? Also my wife is a frequent traveller sometimes away for a week or two. Is it safe for her to breastfeed after being away for such a long time?

    Rgds,

It is certainly all right for her to discontinue breastfeeding at 2 years if she wishes, however, being away from home will not hurt her much, she can pump and dump, and rid herself of old breastmilk, but as long as she's not ingesting anything away from home that she shouldn't be ingesting while breastfeeding, it should be all right.

Your child will eventually develop the understanding that there are other sources of both comfort and sustenence. You can help by bringing it up during "close with daddy times."

That's true, you can tell him that it's time to grow up now and eat big-kid food, and that him and his mom will still spend lots of time together, but doing big-kid things. =)
