Hello, our group has been trying to find a local location to begin a Bicycle MX training/race facility since 2003. We have recently been offered a location and wish to begin building the track. We have formed a CA Non-profit Corporation and have filed & received the paperwork and Corporate ID & Number, as well as our EIN. We will need to do fundraising and wish to file for Federal status as a 501c3 nonprofit. Since we will be promoting an amateur National level competition as well as training facility for the newly included sport of BMX in the Olympics, I am hoping for tips regarding how to have the best chance of receiving this determination from the IRS. Tips which might include proper wording, inclusions in the paperwork, etc. Can you help me? I need to file ASAP of course, in order to apply for grants and solicit funds.
