After a hotel stay, my highlights turned green. The next day I went to the salon, my hairdresser used a Malibu treatment to get out the green and re-colored it. The green keeps coming back! My home water doesn't have cholorine (I've checked with experts), I keep using Malibu's and Ion treatments for "swimmers green", but after about four days the green returns to my blonde streaks. Has the green somehow attached to my hair, what do I do?

Your hair sounds like it could possibly be porous and may have grabbed the base color of the toner as the toner slipped... leaving behind the "green" give it a week and see if you see the "green"fade... you also may just be seeing the coolness of your backdrop or overall color... Green from water is often due to copper or sometimes to iron in the pipes. Copper salts are green. Iron are yellow. The yellow can look green when set against the other toners in the hair. These colors (metal ions) can be difficult to get out. They do sell "treatments" to remove metal ions (Metalex, I believe) from the hair. You can also try to rinse the hair with white vinegar, a weak acid (acetic acid).

I have a friend whose hair has turned green from use of a swimmimg pool (chlorine) and she swears by ketchup!

After washing your hair put ketchup on & leave for a while before rinsing off, I think the red neutralises the green colour. Worth giving it a try as I don't think ketchup contains chemicals that can damge your hair!

I just dyed my hair a light brown (from blonde) and it turned an "OPAL GREEN" color. I called my hairdresser and she told me to get BAKING SODA and REGULAR SHAMPOO and form a paste. Apply on dry or wet hair and let stand for 5 min's. Rinse with cool water and apply a good conditioner. Well, I'm here to tell you it worked! No more GREEN HAIR!
