If it isn't too late plan your planks so the railing spindles are right on the edge of a plank. This way you can notch out for each spindle. Old rule of thumb is if you can't hide something perfectly, extenuated it. You could install a bottom rail made from the same material as the spindles and railing. It would make the joint pop out and appear more finished.
