    Generator Wiring
I have a generator that puts out 5500watts & has (4) 120 volt 20 amp receptacles and 1 Nema L14-30 120/240volt receptacle. I am running a new wire to the panel so I can hook my travel trailer up. The RV requires a 30 amp 120volt receptacle. I have already purchased the wire and connectors but wanted some advice on where to hook the wires into the back of L14-30 receptacle . I need to have 1 ground, neutral, and hot lead but I need to be certain that I still have enough voltage and amperage to run the camper.

    KISS
First, I want you to look here:

Look at the watertight connectors. The trailer should have pins.

The connector should have terminals X, Y, G (Green terminal) and a white terminal.

G is ground. White is neutral. Pick X or Y for the 120 V.

5500/240 is about 23 Amps and I'll bet the generator is fused for 20. Generally the ratings are at the higher voltage.

If it needs 30, you'll be a little short.

Why would you supply power to your generators 30A receptacle to supply power to your RV?

Take the generator out of the picture.

You need to go buy yourself a nema 3R box with 30a 125v RV receptacle, and a 30A RV extension cord with RV plugs.
Run a #10 copper wire from panel to 30A NEMA 3r RV box, then plug your RV cord into the outlets.

If you have a different setup, then let us know.
