Er... well hate to be inhumane, but poison might work. Or maybe traps, so you can relocate them. Have you tried contacting a pest control agency, surely they must have some idea of how to stop those pesky birds.

Gernald; Woodpeckers are endangered and protected. I have contact pest specialist. What kind of poison were you thinking of?

Lucy, I would look into why the birds are pecking on your house, termites or woodboring hornets come to mind. Woodpeckers hear insects in the wood and peck to reach them. Good luck

Lucyeah is correct woodpeckers are protected. I have used bottle rockets to scare them away from my pecan trees.

    Whoops... didn't think of that.
I don't know what type of poison, rodent type poison would do the trick if you could figure out how to get it on your house without infecting your family.
Better just trap 'em or something then.
I like the idea about the bottle rockets... scare them out of their witts!:)

My Mother had a similar problem...

Until she bought a life-sized plastic owl and put it on the corner of the house where the woodpecker was pecking...

No more woodpecker. Cute lawn ornament! :)
