Your computer should have a computer manual that came with it.Quote:

You should read one, and load the other.
Every version of software is different. It may be a ghost or a bak or any of several different types of files, but none of that matters, if you won't read the book, and see what it says to do. Follow the directions. Some computers you don't need to format (reformat) the hard drive separate, instead you can just reload your original software, and during it there is a choice to reformat automatically to exactly what it had from the manufacturer.
If you do format, it will get rid of ALL information, so you need, need, need to backup safely in a way you can get it back, and store it separate the files you want to keep. Including the system, if you do not have a restore or original disk. Check the internet if you don't have original disks from your manufacturer. Usb drives work well for storing files that you want to keep, and restore later easily.
If you don't understand all (any) of this, go to a computer store and have them do what you need. Hopefully that way you won't mess up. A lot of time format is disabled in the software and you cannot do it. Only special ways to do it. If you don't know how, you don't need to do it. You need to pay a professional to do it right, so you get results you want.
First tell us why you want to. Then you have to tells us what operating system you use. From there we can help
