Got social tax refunded, should I file 1040x?
    Hi!

I had F-1 visa few years ago and was wrongfully taxed for Social Security.
I did get a refund from my employer (school) but they had already sent me the W-2 with the Social Security tax added.
Then after I had filed my tax return I received a new W-2 correcting that I had not paid any Social Security tax (all other columns in the new W-2 were blank).

    Should I file 1040X?
Actually, I did try to fill out the 1040X form but I couldn't find any place to show that the Social security tax was corrected and it seems that the social security tax has no effect on the tax return calculation.
    Is this right?

    Thanks in advance~!

The annual tax return does NOT affect the Social Security tax UNLESS your income exceeded the $97,400 cap.

So NO Form 1040X is required.
