Draining a washing machine into a floor drain
I am getting ready to install a washing machine in my basement and the only way to drain the machine is through the floor drain. I was told that this would cause excessive suds when draining. Is there anything I can do to prevent backup because the area is completely finished with dry wall, trim, and flooring. I don't want to tear anything out if possible. In this utility room there is an exposed stack pipe from the toilet in the ceiling, I can't see connecting to this pipe because it is several feet above the washer. Do you have any suggestions?

    Thanks Gary

You can tie into that stack pipe at 36" off the floor by using a PVC wye. Is the stack cast iron or PVC?
