Hello... I have a Murray select 12hp 30inch riding mower that starts and runs perfectly but when I engage the mower into any gear past first, it will not move at all and just sits still. The blade engages correctly and cuts great, but I don't want to make an all day job cutting my grass in first gear only. I was told that there is a key that needs to be replaced in the tranny or such.. but I have no idea where to look. Your help would be greatly appreciated.

Got to have it, save yourself a lot of trouble and buy a used transaxle, or a new/used mower.

Thanks for answering my question... "i guess". By assumption are you saying that it's the axle key that's bad, they are only 1.50 and far less expensive than a transaxle, or even a new mower at that. The mower is in pristine condition and worked flawlessly aside from the gears 2-5. Does anyone have a solid conclusion on the issue? A PIN POINTABLE DIAGNOSIS preferably. Thanks and God bless
