Indemnifying spouse from your medical costs upon your death
My sister lives in the state of Washington. She has received a marriage proposal, but needs to find out if there is a way to indemnify him from her medical costs, before and after her death.

He is only responsible for her bills if he is a co-signer or guarantor. Husbands and wives are not automatically responsible; however, be aware of the little box on the medical form that says, "Responsible party."

HOWEVER - her ESTATE is responsible for her medical bills to the extent it is able to pay. They come right off the top.
