I am looking for the efficiency differences between a water-to-air heat pump versus a standard air-to-air heat pump. Is it worth the eletrical savings to go with one versus the other. I have heard that the water-to-air heat pump is much more effiicient but can't find any concrete data.

Water to air works cheaper because of the constant temperature of the water as compared to the outside air that changes all the time.

The huge problem is cost and cost recovery for going to the water air setup.

Usually you will spend 2X the money for water air. Pay back is way to many years for my taste. Save your $$ and get a good high quality heat pump AND have it installed by a company that really know what they are doing. You will be many $$$$ ahead.

Always get two or three estimates. Have them do a manual D and a manual J before sizing the equipment. If they do not know what the above is or do not want to do a D and J then pass them by because they do not know what they are doing.

BTW do a Google and search the manufactures sites. All the energy saving information is there. Happy hunting.

The pay off is quicker than some think. Yes the front end is moore for install but it will pay off. GOOGLE Doug Rye and read the info. As far as the Manual D and J, I think any respected company will run a load calculation.
