I am looking to open a pool hall in my area.
Hi, I am 18 years old and I have a business partner that is 21. Finding people that are willing to take us seriously has been a hassle. My business partner and I are planning on opening a Pool Hall in our area. My partner has already saved up his half of the money in order to get our business started. However, I am having a hard time coming up with my half. I am seeking information on how I can go about getting my part of the money. I recently spoke with the Bank and I do not have enough credit built up in order to receive a loan. I only have 4 months of credit built up thus far. My partner owns another small business however it does not bring in enough income to sustain a new loan on my behalf. I have thought about having my Father co-sign in order to get the loan however I was shut down by him as well. I have great views on this becoming successful. But it has been hard finding help due to my age. Also the fact that investing in a small business is very risky. I have also thought to work and save the money, however I am a full time student at UNF, perusing a degree in Accounting. My partner and I are trying to get this started as soon as possible. I was wondering if anyone knew of any web sites that help small business's get started, and also if there are any places that can provide me with information about getting our business somehow funded, I'm not sure if there is such thing as business investing in smaller business's. But if so does anyone have info. On where I can find that type of information? Please help. Thank you for your time.

Sorry, no, there is no magic secret togetting loans, also you did not say how much. But you can get advice on running a business, you can get advice on management, but on loans, you basically have to apply and apply and try, but at 18 with no credit history, you are not going to have much luck in borrowing funds to start a business.

Have you done any businesss plans, studied, profit factors, done traffic studies, interest in the business and so on.

It's nice to see young people who have the entrepreneurial spirit! Where were you thinking of having your pool hall? You don't have to start by having it in a big place at first. Also, I am assuming that the money that you trying to come up with is for the equipment that you would need. Is that correct? You don't have to have a lot of equipment to just start your business.
