I took the handle off the shower and replaced two washers. One was funnel shaped and the other was like a little cap which was installed in the rear. My shower still drips. Is it possible that the inside where the cap shaped washer sets is bad?

That is called a seat... and yes.. it is very possible. What is the name of the shower valve?
OK... got your message. Take the spindle assembly out again and take it to your local plumbing supply house... they will know what brand you have. Tell them you need the seats... hot and cold.. AND THE TOOLS NEEDED TO REMOVE THE SEATS!!!!. For example, Symmons has 2 tools needed to remove the seats to their shower valve.
You could also post a picture of valve.. both with plate on and with plate off so we can view here. There a few pretty sharp guys here ( I do not count myself amongst them yet... but working on it... :) ).. so that will work good , too. Let us know what you find!!
