Having problems with our kitchen sink hot water. After a few seconds of running the hot water, the pressure dies, causing the conversion bolier to stop heating the water, and eventually the hot water stops. Any ideas why this is happening, and how to fix it?

Could be a clog in the hot water side of the faucet. Is it only the kitchen sink where you are having this problem?

Thanks for the reply. Yes it is just the kitchen sink, the pressure starts fine then slowly dies to nothing. If you think is is a clog, how would I go about clearing it?

You may take the little diverter off the end of the faucet to check for dirt. The faucet might also have a internal problem and you would be better off just replacing it if that is the case.

I'm a Florida plumber. I don't know too much about a conversion boiler but I do know faucets. Before you go through the hassel of changing the faucet why not tell me what the brand name is and whether its one handle or two knobs? And while you're at it is conversion boiler another name for water heater? Regards, Tom

Hi Speedball, A conversion or combination boiler is one that does the heating and hot water on demand (when you turn on the hot taps). The kitchen tap has two knobs either side of the spout.

Hey Mark,

Shut the water off under the cabinet. Now remove the stem and washer assembly from the hotwater side. Place a pan over the open valve body to prevent splash and turn the hot water on to flush out the supply. You should have a full stream. If not, the problem's downstream from the shutoff in the cabinet and the hot water branch will have to be flushed as well. Good luck, Tom
