try using "chkdsk" in command prompt.

on the start menu, click run and type "cmd.exe" and once the console opens, type "chkdsk :[DRIVE LETTER] /R /X", then formating will make it work again.

If this doesn't work, just try formating on another computer

Your right it doesn't always work, but you have to try to see if this is the problem. There may be info on that drive quigley might need trying to format would be last thing to try unless that is what he would like to do, just have to wait and see if he posts back

True, but when this happens, 90% of the time, you can read off the drive and therfore copy it back once formatted. I have one stick that does it all the time, it's one of my decent ones too!

    Excellent..

I got my problem solved by following the above instructions. Only thing is I had three controlsets Controlset003 too. Where I had to change the writeprotect to 0 in order to make it work... thanks..

pavan44.it, you're posting on some two year old thread that belongs to someone else.

How can someone solve your problem if you don't say what your problem is? If you're meaning you have the same problem as the original poster on this thread, you should say so, so that someone knows what you're talking about. And a solution has already been provided - did you bother to read the thread and have you tried this? If you haven't read, then do so. If you have, and you tried it, and it didn't work, then say you tried it, it didn't work, and ask if anyone has any other solutions.

The people here are not mind readers.
