    College Refund!
 I paid for college during the spring, summer I & summer II classes and my books out of my own pocket with no loans and worked also. Is there anyway I can get a tax refund on that?

When I was going to school 2 yrs ago they said that you could claim the books.

You can claim some of the educatonal expenses against income you made.
You don't get paid back for the expenses, but you can use it to lower the taxes owed on the income you made, which may give you a refund of the money you paid in on taxes on your income.

Actually, with either the Hope or Lifetime Learning Credit, you effectively ARE paid back some, if not all, of your educational expenses.

However, BOOKS are not a qualified expense for those credits.
