    Renter in foreclosed rental property
I have been renting an apartment in Mi, in a four unit building. As of December it has been foreclosed on and I have signed a 1 month lease for Jan. Now the lease is up and I am ready to move on, but did not give notice. A realtor who is acting as middle man said without 30 day notice of intent to move we will be giving up our security deposit which is equal to one months rent. Is this legal?

If you are on a month to month rental, what did the lease say, first this is now Feb not Jan, and you are still living there so you now owe for Feb. had you moved out by Jan 31 you may have a case for it. He can not just withhold your deposit, but he can apply it to Feb rent, or other damages done.

    Hello g:

Yes, you need to give him a 30 day written notice of your intention to vacate.
