Probabtion to another state for sex crime conviction
HI, I am so new to this site that I don't know what I should do so please bear with me. LOL

Ok so I am trying to gather information for my friend who lives in prison in Nevada, he is up for probation in November 2008 and wants to move to Iowa where his mother lives and his girlfriend with kids (not his blood). He was convicted of a sex crime not rape though with a minor. I research that Iowa is very strict on their rules.

Is my friend allowed to move to another state once he is released from prison? Where do I find answers to what rules each state has on sex offenders, can he live with someone who has kids (not his blood).

I am so completely lost in this search I don't seem to be getting anywhere and the DOC's all tell me that he can not leave Nevada until probabtion is over.

I hope you can help me or at least point me in the right direction. I feel like a dog chasing his tail LOL

    Thank you so much

    Sincerely
    Jewelz from Canada

    1. If he is in prison, he is looking at parole not probation. He first of course needs to be approved for his parole, since it is not automatically by any means

    2. In his application for parole he can request this, and/or after he gets out, he can request a transfer.

    3. They do not have to allow it, not only does the state he is moving from have to OK it, but the state he is going to move into has to approve it also.

It is very likely he may have to remain in that state or at least no one is going to make a choice until he is actually out and in their state and aking for the transfer
