Hi, I have an electricity problem at home. Actually we are shifted to a totally new area and in our block, only we are connected to the transformer. There are no other houses in our block and the area is empty. But even we are the only users of the electricity, we experience power shortage.
When we switch on electric heater the light gets dim... most of the time we have to switch off one thing and turn on the other.
My brother called a person to check this problem and he advised us to take another electricity line from the same transformer. But I think this is not the solution to the problem. We have single phase electricity supply which I think is enough for home requirements.
I think during summer our electricity requirements will even increase as we have to switch the air conditioners also and hence the situation will worsen.
Can anybody advise me what to do to solve this problem.
I will really appreciate comments and advices.

Sounds as if you are at the end of a utility power line, and may be experiencing voltage drop. First you should contact the power utility company, explain that you are having problems and that the symptoms of voltage drop, they should come out and check all the connections on there end, and should be able to do a load test at the meter socket to test and confirm for voltage drop.

The utility lines may have either loose or bad conncetions, or the aerial line may be too small to your house, either or both conditions can cause low voltage.

If this does not correct the problem, next call an electrician to check all the connections in your meter, panel, breakers, for loose connections. There also can be several other wiring methods that can cause the problem in your panel the electrician needs to look for.

Low voltage will not do any damage to your resistance electric heat, but will damage motors such as in refrigerators etc
