    H1- B tax certificates from 2 companies
    Hi,

I am a H1- B employer in my second year of work.

Just recently the company that sponsors me has had some finical difficulty and they are going into bankruptcy. They have another companies that they operate under, and have given me 2 tax certificates. 1 W2 form from company A (which is my sponsoring company) for most of my work, and a 1099 form from company B for some of my other work.

My duties with the company have not changed at all and I still perform the same job that I was hired for (art direction). But I have began to work off premise and my number of hours changed.
The main thing that I am worried about is that them issuing a tax certificate from company B will not be good for me. I don’t know what to do, and I have a strained relationship with the employer so I am not sure what my options are.

Just file the tax return. You will need to file Form 1040 with Schedules C and SE for the Form 1099 work.

It IS a technical violation, but posts from people in your situation indicates that it is NOT a major violation.
