Water overflowing in a Maytag washing machine
Hello. I have a Maytag stacked washer and dryer, purchased in 1996. The model number is LSE7804ADE. The problem has just started and the water fills up to the top and overflows without stopping. It happened at the start of the rinse cycle. The only way we could shut off the flow of water was by turning the taps off where the hoses are connected.
My question is: What do you think may be the solution and are there any diagrams which display the mechanism?

This would be a bad pressure switch or water valve. More than likely the pressure switch. YOu can see a diagram at Appliance Parts from RepairClinic.com - HomePage
