    I'm assuming the child has been born already. You need to file a petition in Family Court for at least joint custody. Part of that petition will be to have you listed as the father on the because. You may have to get a paternity test done, if the mother challenges your petition.

    It won't be put on unless the mother agrees. My daughter didn't put her sons fathers name on his, he wouldn't give her the info she needed when she was filling the birth record out, he signed paternity papers when he went to court for support, but they wouldn't put his name on it because it wasn't recorded at birth.. sorry

    That may be a local issue. Generally the court will order a revised birth certificate once paternity is proven or acknolwedged.
