I've seen washing machines in bathrooms. Not too bizarre.
If it works best for you then go for it. Just know in advance, though, that if and when you sell your home you'll want to return the room to a normal bathroom... UNLESS you have a 2nd bathroom on that floor. In that case then you'd call one of them the laundry room and the other a bathroom.
No, I've seen many homes with a laundry station in a bathroom. Not ideal, but if that's what needs to be done it isn't totally crazy.
My first home had that, ** since it was down stairs I added a laundry chute, it was great.
It's was a building trend for awhile. Depending on your area, you may see quite a few of those or none.
Simply put bi-fold doors in front of your machines, so that they are hidden when not in use. Or another idea is to put them underneath a counter top and then put a curtain or something similar underneath the counter. Then it becomes a functional part of the bathroom as extra counter space.
The current HGTV dream home has a laundry area with a half bath in the same room. So not odd at all...
The trick is to hide the machines, so that they don't become an unintentional focal point of the bathroom.
