OPT status tax filing with corrected W2 from employer
Wondering if anyone can answer my question?
I have been working with a company since January, My OPT ended on October 1st. My company has been deducting my social security and medicare taxes from my paycheck every month.
When I approached my company regarding this issue, They provided me with a "Corrected W2" in which they have modified the numbers. They have reduced my medicare taxes and SS amount (which now equals to the deduction on medicare and SS for the time I was not on OPT) and the difference has been added to the total federal taxes amount.
From the previous thread I've learned that I need to file for the SS and medicare return using form 843. But with this corrected W2 can I file for taxes normally and not do Form 843, or do both?
Any help will be appreciated
