I am in a new relationship and she has a pug that just turned 2 years old. I also have a dachshund puppy that is 7 months and she cries at night but all I have to do is yell stop and she is done the whole night... So basically I am new in house and this pug was running my girlfriends life. She was driving me nuts when we would go to sleep at night walking all over the bed scratching at the bed trying to get comfortable. I couldn't take it anymore so I started to crate her up at night.. now she just goes crazy and scratches at the floor like a mad man and screams her little lungs out ALLLLL NIGHT!! She stops takes a nap then starts up again... we just got a high pitch sensor thing that we are going to try tonight but that is only going to help with the barking what do I do about the scratching and barking if that doesn't work... I have yelled spanked tried treats I have done everything this has been almost 2-3 months now and it doesn't seem like it is getting any better... any help?

Number one you should never yell or scream at a dog. You are only making matters worse. She does not really know or trust you.
I will dig through some of the post and try to find a link that Rubypitbull has on leadership, It is not a magic cure and takes time and patience to "fix" the problem. I really think at this point in the dogs life the girlfriend should be the one to work with the dog.
Putting a dog in a crate that has never been crated and away from her mommy must be very traumatic for her. Please no more yelling or hitting any dog.

Maybe the crates too small and she's scared Changing a Dogs life like that can Freak them out you should show Her that it isn't a bad place to be get her Used to it During the day so at night time she doesn't FLip out when you Put her in there If she's not used to it then she will try to get out and bark and flip out but if you put her in there acouple times in the day and make sure you give her enough attantion when she's in there maybe that will improve the situation

She was crated up during the day when she was at work.. Its just now that she is not able to sleep with her at night she is non stop crying and scratching..

P.s. I am not beating her just a love tap on the butt.

The crate is large enough for her to turn around in jump a little bit. Its dark enough so its almost den like. If I put her in a crate that is open she is even worse.. If I put her in the crate with me near it she flips out even WORSE then if I was out of the room.. She just doesn't like it..

A love tap to you may not be a love tap for her. A strangers hand/ (or any other)coming toward her is the last thing that should ever happen... the only time they should see a hand in their direction should be to pet or feed them never to hit. Pretty soon she may start the submissive peeing when you are near her and that will be a whole set of problems. If the girlfriend gets the leadership problems worked on a stern look or a command should work wonders with any issue that needs to be addressed.

I am not really a stranger I have been around the dog since she was little. When I watch her when my girlfreind is gone and we were not crating her up she was okay sleeping in my bed with just me and she really is a good dog. It's just now that we need her to be crated she is a horrible dog. She isn't listening she is peeing in the house.. its like she is trying to be the top person in the house.. there is 3 other dogs in the house and she is the only one we are having a problem with.. I have done this for year but I have never had this much of a problem..

Then go to the link that I posted for you and work from there. But I can tell you that you MUST earn this dogs trust or you will have nothing but problems. Hitting and yelling is not the way.

We have put her t shirts in her crate. We have tried treats. We ignored her cries. We moved her in a room at the end of the house. Turned on a radio. Tried her in our room. It is just not working...

When you read it try to think of your dog. As well read more into it as well you will have a better understanding of your dog. Training is the key and this is what you need to work on. I am sure that if you love your dog as much as your girlfriend you would find a better way to rectify the problem. Please understand that I am trying to help and from the sounds of it more advise is better then some. Please let us know how you made out. Where does the other dogs sleep? And which one of the dogs would be considered the dominate one?

I am pretty sure that the dachshund is the stronger. Doxie pug are crated. In the backroom and the other two on the floor with the owners in another room

I agree in this one. My dog ALWAYS used to cry at night. When he was little, we put him in a bunny crate (it held 2 rabbits) and put him in my room. By the door, and we'd put a blanket over the top. He'd cry for a while, then he stopped after a while. But remember, things like that take time, and won't happen over night. Then after a while, we moved him into the hall, then downstairs in his crate in the living room. Now my dog has a pretty big cage. Like PopcornSunshineKisses said, your dog shouldn't be afrade of the crate. Putting it in for a while each day will show your dog shouldn't be afrade. But you should keep its mind off being board by putting the big dog bones, old blankets, and toy in the crate for your dog. And each time you put him in the crate, praise him and give him a small treat. Only if he's being good. And if it makes you feel better, why not try and put your pug with the other well behaved dogs? He might learn off them. Hope this helps!
