Is there a rhyme or reason as to why you are only supposed to condition the ends of your hair only??
I've heard this for ages and always conditioned all of my hair down to the scalp...

If you find your hair/scalp tends to get greasy fast then don't apply conditioner on scalp. Also, hair near the scalp does not need conditioning as it's in good condition already because it's new hair.
Sounds good to me, my scalp doesn't get greasy. I was always told that conditioning from root to end helped to prevent dandruff... I've always done so and never gotten dandruff, so I was assuming this was true.
