when answering randomly, due to a lack of time, what letter do u suggest in my selection process?

I'm going to take this test and if my time management fails, I want to have a backup plan... thanks!

Wow, I haven't heard about Scantron testing in way too long. What I have for you is nothing more than pure urban legends.
The most common answer on a Scantron is C.
Look for patterns, i.e. "the staircase theory"... if answers resemble a staircase, follow the staircase on your next answer. Finally, the "all good things have to end theory", if your previous answers were a, a, a, a and a, your next answer more than likely will not be a. Once again, this is pure urban legends. However, I will end in saying I have found it successful more times then not in situation like those that you describe. Best of luck...

Well I can tell you one thing about taking the Last. ABSOLUTELY take a prep course. They are run through Kaplan and the Princeton review and may seem expensive (1500 or so) but are worth their weight in gold. They give you a test upon entry and I personally went from scoring in the 70th percentile to scoring in 96th percentile over the course of the class. So you could basically paying 1500 for the difference between going to a mediocre school and going to Yale.

If you are taking the Last, you really only get one shot. My advice is to be as prepared as possible. They don't erase your score if you bomb it the first time, they average the two. I guess it depends on what your goals are, but if you plan on taking the test twice, I think it is a big mistake.

At one time you could take the Last 3 times in any 2 year period. The scores were not averaged but were made available as part of the permanent record.

Do you know when that changed?

You can take the Last as much as you want, but most schools will average the scores for admissions purposes. It is a school by school decision, but KAPLAN (I taught for them while in law school) and Princeton review (the course I actually took) both inform students that "most" school use an average.
